Sheena Thursby, RN, BScN, CPN(C), AC

President

Faculty - Perioperative Specialty Nursing, BCIT

Close up portrait of Sheena Thursby

Sheena Thursby is presently serving as the PNABC President for the term 2024-2026.

Sheena graduated with her BScN from Douglas College in 2010 and went on to work on a medical-surgical floor and in ambulatory care. Sheena was excited and intrigued by the procedures that she got to see in ambulatory care and could not ignore her increasing curiosity about what it was like to work as a nurse behind those restricted zone doors.

She feels fortunate to have been a part of the sponsorship program through Fraser Health Authority, and successfully completed her specialty perioperative nursing training with the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) in 2013. Since then, Sheena has worked in various hospitals within the Fraser Health region. Her most recent career move in 2021, was to become a full-time instructor in the Perioperative Nursing Specialty Program at BCIT.

In an attempt to create a good work-life balance, outside of spending time with her hubby and 2 young children, Sheena likes to do CrossFit and see a quality friend now and again.

Since then, Val has worked in various health authorities and private centers across BC with her most recent career move teaching as a faculty member in the Perioperative Nursing Specialty Program at BCIT.
